HYBRID ISSUES HAMPER TURKINGTON

  • Colin Turkington will start race 1 tomorrow at Brands Hatch from P10 on the grid following a hugely frustrating qualifying session.
  • The four-time champ was showing fine form and great pace in the morning free practice sessions, but repeated hybrid issues in qualifying spoiled his chances of better result.
  • His fifth row start will see the Team BMW driver form up behind his championship rivals who start P1, P3 and P5.
  • Catch all three races LIVE on ITV4 tomorrow from 10am.
Colin had hoped for so much more from quaifying

HEAR FROM COLIN

That was a hugely frustrating session. We had a fast car, a great balance, but plagued with the same hybrid issues that bit us at Silverstone.

I got my best lap with no hybrid. The issue was the flow of the session. I’m spending more time in the pits than I am on the track. When we’re in the pits people are setting their fastest laps when the track is at it’s best.

The opportunity to start at the front was robbed from us. And that’s two weekends on the bounce whereby its something outside of our control that’s held us back. My only chance to win this was to qualify at the front and we’ve had that taken away from us. So that’s what’s annoying me.

Colin and Team BMW did all they could in the leadup to today

CLASSIFICATION

Colin will start on the fifth row of the grid tomorrow for race 1, with 8 laps of hybrid available to deploy. HIs rivals will start from P1, P3 and P5.
