COLIN HEADS TO DONINGTON PARK FOR THE ANNUAL HISTORIC FESTIVAL
Driving no less than three historic race cars, Colin Turkington will be swapping new machinery for old this weekend as he competes in a 1989 BMW M3 E30, a 1958 Lister Jaguar and a 1961 Jaguar E Type at Donington Historic Festival.
Returning to Donington Park fresh from his first Team BMW win in the BTCC, Colin aims to keep his race craft sharp as he gets behind the wheel of some stunning classic vehicles. Competing throughout the three-day festival, Turkington will be taking part in some of the most exiting events on the programme.
Driving an ex DTM BMW in The Super Touring Car Challenge, Colin will be aiming to repeat last year’s stunning performance taking an overall podium and a class win.

Turkington will also be hoping for some thrilling race action similar to his outing at the Goodwood 75th MM in the Stirling Moss Trophy driving a 1958 Lister Jaguar Knobbly.
The Jaguar Classic Challenge will be a new experience for Colin, as he slips behind the wheel of a beautiful 1961 Jaguar E Type for the first time.

“The chance to drive some great cars from the past is too good an opportunity to turn down and I don’t need too much persuasion to get out on track. I also really love the classic racing scene as it’s such a relaxed environment.
I bring my two boys with me to all the historic events and they have such a fantastic time immersing themselves in decades worth of racing cars.
Last year I got the BMW M3 round Donington less than 2 seconds off the BTCC pole time and it was so much fun to drive. Depending on the conditions, it would be great to try and improve on that time, so I’m looking forward to seeing what we can do. I’m also keen to get back into the Lister that I raced at Gooodwood last month. It promises to be a super weekend of motorsport and should keep me sharp ahead of our next BTCC meeting at Thruxton.”
TEAM BMW TESTING
Team BMW joined most of the BTCC grid at a Thruxton test last week. Taking part in two 45-minute sessions, the team gathered vital information on the Dunlop HARD compound tyre that they must run throughout the race weekend on 6th / 7th May.
