DEBRIEF Q&A WITH COLIN
WE COULD SEE HOW FRUSTRATED YOU WERE WITH THE RESULTS COLIN, BUT YOUR PACE IN RACE 3 WAS PHENOMENAL. IS THIS A FLAVOUR OF WHAT TO EXPECT FROM YOU?
It turns out I’m only human, and although we do everything we can to ensure perfection, when you’re pushing the limits and pushing the boundaries all the time, these things can sometimes happen. Of course it was disappointing, but we work hard at being resilient and you have to be in order to bounce back.
Race 3 was the opportunity to regain some ground but we just didn’t get the roll of the dice. It’s always a risk starting at the back and this proved that. The pace was there in the car, but unfortunately one point for fastest lap was all we could salvage.
We’ll come back stronger at Snetterton for sure.
HOW CRUCIAL MIGHT THAT ONE POINT BE?
With only 12 points separating three of us at the top, you begin to see how important they are. Come the final race at Brands, that one point could make the difference, so it was a mega job by the team to get the car back out and make it count. We’re only 12 points off the top, but significantly lighter with success ballast for Snetterton. This is not a bad position to be in at all.
WILL YOUR OUTINGS AT GOODWOOD THIS WEEKEND ASSIST YOUR BTCC CAMPAIGN?
I’m really looking forward to this event and I’m so fortunate to be in two super cars and with two excellent teams. I’ve had a run out in the Mini at Donington last week but not the Cortina, so it’ll be a big learning curve as well. It’s always good to be driving and slightly outside the comfort zone!
The priority is to enjoy it and have a bit of fun, it will be an important break from the intensity of our BTCC campaign.
