TURKINGTON STORMS TO POLE POSITION
TEAM BMW CHAMPION SECURES TOP SPOT FOR BTCC OPENER AT DONINGTON PARK

- Colin Turkington proved to be the guy to beat today as he topped the time sheets in every session.
- The only driver to dip into the 1.08 minutes, Turkington stormed to pole position around Donington Park, setting a new lap record along the way.
- Despite warm conditions, spots of rain provided a less than straight forward session, as grip levels changed throughout the 30 minutes.
- This pole position records the 21st of Colin’s BTCC career, starting the 2020 season in the same way he finished in 2019 at Brands Hatch GP.

COLIN TURKINGTON
“What a result for me and for Team BMW! No matter how many years you’ve been doing this, you still turn up at the first event and think, am I still fast? From the off this morning though I felt good, well prepared and knew we were on the pace. But despite those two strong practice runs we knew there was still work to do ahead of qualifying. The grid is so tight, especially when you look at the top 10.
It feels so good to be back doing what I love!
Feeling the adrenaline and having that pressure to perform is what I’ve missed. You can test and prepare all day but there’s nothing like having to drive the car in anger and deliver.
Things are different in the paddock for sure, and it was strange not having the team in parc fierme to celebrate the fruits of their labour, but to be honest, we are all just so thankful to be back doing our thing. I hope we can put on a great show for everyone at home tomorrow! Thank you Team BMW!”
