TAKING THE POINTS AT THRUXTON

TURKINGTON HAS TOUGH TIME AT THRUXTON BUT CLOCKS THREE TOP 10 FINISHES

  • Colin Turkington picked up three top 10 finishes over the weekend at Thruxton (8th / 9th June) despite having a tough time.
  • The 4-Time champ suffered a snapped bonnet latch in first practice on Saturday, leaving him in the pits for rapid repairs for the majority of the short half-hour session.
  • This lack of laps put the BMW driver on the back foot for qualifying with the hard compound tyre.
  • Turkington secured a fifth row start for race 1 on Sunday and showed great pace in the thick of the pack picking up vital points despite a tricky starting position.
  • A great reversed grid draw for the final race looked promising for Turkington but a ‘fall off the cliff’ in rear tyre performance near the end of the race saw him hold on to 7th place in the end.
  • All-in-all a tough weekend but one where the grit and tenacity of a BTCC master kept the points coming in. Expect a big bounce-back…
