TURKINGTON’S SENSATIONAL LAP PLANTS BMW 3 SERIES ON POLE

Colin Turkington claimed his second pole position of the season today after a ‘special’ lap secured P1 for tomorrows race.

Despite carrying 54kgs of success ballast the BMW driver delivered a sensational lap and surprised even himself with a blistering 1m25:825s.

“The track was at its best, I got a bit of a tow off Andy and I managed to get everything pin point perfect.  I’ve been working on that lap all week in my head!

Everything came together just nicely..  That was the first time we had put new rubber on all day and they switched the car on.

The first few laps were steady because of the spots of rain and then I knew i needed a strong banker.  The second outing the grip levels were down and I knew I wasn’t going to better it so felt it best to take it easy in case we caused a red flag and lost the lap. 

We made all the right decisions today and got everything spot on.  It’s the reward for a lot of hard work today and in the lead up.

Tomorrow’s the day but you have to enjoy the pole position and I’m just pleased with the job we did today.  It was a special lap. Pole positions don’t come around that often.”
