TURKINGTON TAKES POLE IN CTCC DEBUT

COLIN TURKINGTON STORMS TO POLE POSITION IN WUHAN FOR CHINESE TOURING CAR CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM 333 RACING VOLKSWAGEN

Triple BTCC Champion Colin Turkington has stormed to pole position in his debut appearance in the Chinese Touring Car Championship today (Saturday 6th October) for works Volkswagen team 333 Racing.  Clinching his maiden CTCC pole in style, the current BTCC champion clocked a stunning lap over half a second quicker than second position.  Driving the Wuhan street circuit and the Volkswagen Lamando for the first time on Thursday, Turkington has made light work of learning a new track, a new car and the Kumho tyres.

“That was a lot of fun! The car is so rewarding to drive and being on the limit gives such a good feeling. 

We found a nice balance out there and the car was dancing for me.

It’s my first pole position in a few years and I’m pleased to do it for this team.  If only we could drop success ballast in the BTCC .. I might be smiling more often!

My team mates are in P2 and P4 so the VW’s are looking in good shape for the race. 

Tyre management will be essential over the course of the 12 lap race as the degradation is rapid on the Kumho rubber.  We will work clever as a team and try to score well for Volkswagen in the Manufacturers championship.”
