TURKINGTON TAKES P5 IN WEATHER DISRUPTED QUALIFYING
It was a qualifying that never really got going for the BTCC this afternoon as the rain brought unfavourable conditions.
After a dry start to the 30 minute qualifying session, it soon became tricky as rain moved in. It briefly stopped mid way when a few of the grid were able to make progress but after five or six laps it closed in.
Colin banked a reasonable time within the first dry ten minutes which was enough to secure him P5 in the end, as lap times failed to improve.
Despite not getting a proper shot at the session Colin is confident of making progress tomorrow in race 1.P1 – Jeff Smith – 48.367
P2 – Tom Ingram – 48.429
P3 – Gordon Shedden – 48.527
P4 – Matt Neal – 48.543
P5 – Colin Turkington – 48.552
“It felt like a qualifying session that never really got started as the rain played havoc with everyone’s plans. I’m happy to be in the top 5 and the end result, despite the unfavourable conditions today, was good. I hope to make progress tomorrow.”
