THE TURKINGTON SHOW SHINES AT SILVERSTONE

MASTERCLASS FROM CHAMPIONSHIP LEADER LEAVES HEARTS RACING AT ‘CRITICAL’ EVENT

Colin Turkington will enter the 2018 BTCC season finale with a 34 point advantage after a sensational display at Silverstone on Sunday (16th September).  Turning it around after an incredibly difficult qualifying, the BMW star delivered one of his finest race days, maintaining his lead at the top of standings.  Armed with dogged determination, he left hearts racing with his maximum attack performance moving him one step closer to the coveted crown.

CLASS AND CONSISTENCY

Turkington’s podium in race 3 recorded his 10th podium of the year, that’s already more than a third of the season so far.  With 133 podiums now to his name, the Team BMW driver is using his experience and class to set the standard.  Clinching three top 8 finishes at a circuit that has been unfavourable for the BMW’s in the past, was a statement of intent from the West Surrey Racing run squad, once again improving the pace of the 1 series with 75kgs of success ballast.

COLIN TURKINGTON

“The car was mega all day and even with the hard tyre in race 2, I could still attack.  We have climbed a mountain in the past 24hrs to turn the car around at a critical event.  Silverstone has always been a bogey circuit for us, which was worsened by carrying so much success ballast.  Our results and success here this weekend feels like a win because it was looking less than ideal after qualifying.

We burned the midnight oil into Sunday and testament to the efforts of my engineer, we nailed it!

My team have continued to work to the highest standards and I’m remarkably proud of what we achieved this weekend.  People power at its best!

34 points or zero makes no difference to us heading to Brands.  It’s great to have them on the board but it’s full steam ahead striving for more.  We’ll be staying on the front foot, working harder than ever and plan to bring our A game.

That trophy is coming home with me this time.”

RESULTS

Race 1 – P8

Race 2 – P8

Race 3 – P3
