THE BTCC IS WHERE I WANT TO BE
“The BTCC Is Where I Want To Be”
Following Friday’s announcement of his departure from Subaru Team BMR, Colin Turkington today reinforced that his priorities lie within the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship.
Having developed a loyal group of fans, supporters and commercial partners over recent years, Turkington insists that the BTCC is the only place to be.
With unrivalled free to air television coverage from ITV, a large passionate fan base and an accessible geographical spread of race events; no other series can deliver quite like the BTCC. Turkington claims that the level of competition is growing year and year, providing a platform to push the very best teams and drivers to strive for excellence in every department.
“At this very moment, I’m keeping my options open, but first and foremost I want to stay in Touring cars. I’m extremely privileged to have a career in motorsport and I’ve enjoyed racing Touring cars all over the world in the BTCC, WTCC and STCC (Scandinavian Touring Car Championship).
Further more, I have a fantastic group of partners and supporters that enjoy being involved and get a lot of value from the BTCC for all the obvious reasons. So that’s where I want to be. You can go all around the world in search of a better series, but I’m pretty sure you won’t find one.
I’ve been overwhelmed by the support and concern since the news broke on Friday, but I can assure you I’m working hard to secure my place back on the grid. I’ve got unfinished business in the BTCC and as soon as I have some news to share; you’ll be the first to know. Thank you.”
