COLIN TURKINGTON RAZOR-FOCUSED AS THE BTCC HEADS TO NORFOLK

  • The third event of 2024 BTCC season gets underway this weekend (25th / 26th May) as the action heads East to Norfolk’s Snetterton Circuit.
  • Buoyed by his recent performance at Brands Hatch, Team BMW’s Colin Turkington currently sits 2nd in the standings ahead of the annual visit to the three-mile circuit.
  • Colin stormed to a sensational pole position last time out and converted that into two dominant race victories. READ ABOUT IT HERE!
  • The BTCC Hybrid Energy Management system looks set to make qualifying more challenging this time out, but the 4 time champ is razor focused on maximising his strengths.
  • With only ten minutes per qualifying session, drivers will have to be fast, accurate and consistent throughout the long Snetterton lap in order to progress through the sessions in the ‘Quick-Six’ format.
  • Race day will also be fascinating with soft, medium and hard Goodyear compound tyres in play!
  • Catch all the action LIVE on ITV4 from 10:50am and every race LIVE around the world on TikTok.

HEAR FROM COLIN

“The results from Brands Hatch have certainly buoyed our confidence about the potential of the WSR BMW package this season, but it’s now more important than ever to get our homework right heading to Snetterton. I’m currently 2nd in the drivers’ standings, which limits the amount of Hybrid deployment available to me for Saturday and race one on Sunday. With this in mind, we need to be on the money with setup for qualifying and I’ve got to deliver a pin-point performance on track with the limited laps we’ll get to set a time.

It’s a case of maximising our strengths and remaining focused on where we can make a difference. Track position in the BTCC is always key, so my mental target is qualifying and we’ll build from there.

We’ve got a set of SOFT, MEDIUM and HARD tyres to run on race day; so, add that into the already thrilling mix and there’s no space for the faint-hearted! There’s so much more to think about during the races this season, it’s not a straightforward race on the road. I’m enjoying the tweaks to the format this year; it’s refreshing and it’s good to have something new to get my head around.”
