POLE FOR TURKINGTON
COLIN SHINES AT SNETTERTON WITH STORMING LAP

- Colin Turkington scored his second pole position of 2020 this afternoon, in a special two stage qualifying at Snetterton.
- Storming to the top of the timesheets on his final lap, his 1m56:858s time was nearly two tenths quicker than second place.
- Track conditions were dry, but low grip compared to usual levels in July.
- The exciting new format for qualifying was a trial run and today combined with only one practice session.

COLIN TURKINGTON
“I really felt the pressure rise in Q2, and there is no room for error out there. The low track temperatures today meant that it was taking a lot of time to get the tyres up to speed and switch on, so you really only had one or two laps to set up your race day.
I loved having to rise to the moment! I think it added an extra dimension of excitement to qualifying.
There was so much to do out there today with only one practice session, we had considerably less time to tune the car for qualifying, so that’s why we were still making changes in qualifying.
What was critical today was getting the car in the right place and in a place where I was confident. It was all about improving it every chance we could, finding grip and ultimately finding lap time. The team did a superb job, every call was the right one.
I knew when i saw the 56:8 it was a good one; I’m so happy with that lap and my performance. It’s one more point that puts us a step closer to Dan and Ash.”
I had to bounce back today, I had to deliver that lap.
