P9 FOR TURKINGTON IN OULTON PARK QUALIFYING
TEAM BMW’S COLIN TURKINGTON DELIVERS ‘MAGIC’ LAP BUT FINISHES P9 IN CLOSELY FOUGHT SESSION

- Colin Turkington will start race 1 tomorrow at Oulton Park from 9th position after a closely fought qualifying session.
- The 4 x Champ was more than happy with his car, insisting he felt his 1m25:795s time was going to be hard to beat.
- Although recording a time faster than his 2019 pole efforts, Turkington’s time was three tenths off the top spot today.
- Despite a changeable morning of weather, conditions were dry and mild for the afternoon.

COLIN TURKINGTON
“I did everything right on that lap, we really did extract the maximum from the car. I was thinking this is going to be a tough time to beat, but then you cross the line and it’s only good enough for P9. That is the BTCC at the moment.”
You can pull a magic lap out of the bag, but it’s just about good enough for the top 10. We were faster than my pole time here in 2019; we’ve moved the game on; but today it’s only good enough for P9.
“The car’s been in the ballpark all day, even in changeable and greasy conditions. In that session it was on it’s toes, reactive and strong. I just don’t see how we could’ve gone much quicker – that was our pace!
Tomorrow will be closely fought and I’m expecting some pretty fierce racing. We’ll examine our efforts from today and I’m confident we’ll be competitive in the races, especially once the ones ahead get some weight.”
