COLIN TURKINGTON RECOGNISED AT PRESTIGIOUS EVENTS

The awards have been flooding in the past week for 4 x British Touring Car Champion Colin Turkington as he receives further recognition for his outstanding achievement in 2019.

Collecting three prestigious awards last weekend; Turkington’s fourth BTCC title and incredible performances this season have been celebrated at the Autosport Awards, the British Racing Drivers Club Awards and the Celebration of Motorsport event.

AUTOSPORT NATIONAL DRIVER OF THE YEAR

Colin was announced as the Autosport National Driver of the Year at Grosvenor House London in front of the most celebrated of motorsport audiences. Presented his award by Strictly Come Dancing star Kelvin Fletcher, Turkington commended the ‘people power’ of Team BMW and the ‘brilliance’ of the new BMW 3 Series.

THE FAIRFIELD TROPHY

The annual British Racing Drivers Club awards followed where Colin was presented with the Fairfield Trophy for his outstanding performance throughout the 2019 Motorsport season. Colin once again credited the team at West Surrey Racing for their excellence and singled out his wife Louise’s input to his career saying, “She is the great lady behind me. She made me do it [fourth title].”

CONTRIBUTION TO MOTORSPORT

Colin was also awarded the Contribution to Motorsport award by Ross Brawn at a special evening in Belfast to recognise his decorated career to date and the impact he has had on the sport.
