OULTON PARK APPROACHING!

TURKINGTON ‘FIRED UP’ FOR CHESHIRE’S FAMILY-FAVOURITE CIRCUIT

  • The 5th event in the 2024 BTCC calendar takes place this weekend (22nd / 23rd June) around family-favourite circuit – Oulton Park.
  • Always a fun-filled location for BTCC fans and families, Oulton Park hosts the final race weekend in the first half of the season.
  • As drivers and teams soak up the pressure to reach the critical half-way point with championship campaigns on track, Oulton Park historically breeds plenty of thrills and spills.
  • Team BMW’s Colin Turkington is sure to be one to watch in his BMW 330e; this driver and car combo has a fantastic record of results around the narrow and technical Cheshire circuit.
  • Currently sitting 4th place in the standings, Turkington has more hybrid to deploy than at the previous two events, aiming to ‘make it count’ when the action kicks off.
  • The 4-time champ was unlucky last time out at Thruxton missing most of a practice session, but kept his head down and clocked up three points-scoring results from a difficult day. READ ABOUT IT HERE!
  • Further adding to the excitement this weekend will be the option tyres! Goodyear’s soft compound tyre will be in action twice with the hard compound tyre raced once, leaving tyre strategies a key talking point.
  • Catch all the action LIVE on ITV4 from 11:45am and every race LIVE around the world on TikTok.

HEAR FROM COLIN

“Can you believe we’re already nearing the half-way point in the season?  We had to dust ourselves down after Thruxton and re-focus ahead of this one but I’m really looking forward to Oulton. Everyone will get their run of tough races and it’s important for me to remain positive that we’ve kept on picking up points regardless of what’s going on around me.  Come the season finale, this is sure to be the defining factor. It’s a long and hard season; remaining consistent for 30 races is the challenge, but I’m fired up for that!

There are some fantastic circuits coming up for the BMW; circuits I thoroughly enjoy. It will also be great to get the soft tyre on for qualifying and see what we can do with the extra bit of hybrid deployment. It’s important we make it count when we have it. The option tyres are going to be a hot topic, and if the weather plays ball, we’ll get to see the true impact of how the soft versus hard tyre will play out.

BTCC is not meant to be easy and just when you think you have things sorted, it always has its way of shaking things up! As a fan, I’d be buzzing for this weekend, as I think Oulton is going to close the first half out with some thrilling entertainment.”
