The Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship is on its way to Scotland
Rounds 19, 20 and 21
The hills of Dunfermline provide the spectacular backdrop this weekend as the BTCC title battle continues.
The crowds will flock to Knockhill in less than 4 days time as the UK’s hottest championship arrives in Scotland. Landing at Scotland’s National Motorsport Centre, the BTCC will move in and take control of the 1.27 mile undulating circuit; a challenge that Colin Turkington will also ask of himself.
Sitting just 34 points off the lead in the standings, Turkington has been the standout performer recently taking six podiums in the last nine races. He has also been a standout performer around the Scottish rollercoaster in RWD machinery, currently holding the race lap record of 52.094 seconds.
Colin displayed a masterclass in cool and class at Snetterton last time out with the event dominated by dramatic crashes.
Claiming two podiums (P1, P2) and a P6, Turkington was the highest point scorer of the weekend. Read the Snetterton report here.
One of the shortest tracks on the BTCC calendar, Knockhill is set deep in the Scottish hills surrounded by sheep. A circuit full of twists, turns, drops and climbs it never fails to provide plenty of gasps and fantastic overtaking moves. One thing that will be under a watchful eye however will be the current driving standards.
Following the serious incidents at Snetterton two weeks ago, the Championship organisers (TOCA) have made an amendment to the regulations allowing them to exclude drivers from future races or meetings based on unacceptable driving standards. A welcome addition to the series, it will hopefully improve the safety of all competitors and event staff.

“I have always enjoyed Knockhill and it is genuinely one of the race weekend’s I look forward to most. It is definitely a circuit that demands your full attention and can usually shock the system in FP1 on the Saturday morning!
To be fast round here you need to attack the track and be very aggressive over the kerbing. I find that it’s certainly one of the most challenging circuits on the BTCC calendar but if you can do your job right and get the car ready to dance – it’s also the most rewarding.”
HE TURNAROUND TIME HAS BEEN VERY TIGHT FOR THE TEAM, BUT I THINK IT WILL HELP OUR OVERALL RHYTHM. WE HAVE GENERATED GREAT MOMENTUM OVER THE LAST THREE EVENTS AND I’M KEEN TO KEEP GOING FORWARD.
