TURKINGTON TAKES TO PODIUM AT DRENCHED DONINGTON SEASON OPENER

Colin Turkington got his 2024 BTCC season off to a fantastic start yesterday (Sunday 28th April) with three top 5 finishes.
Securing P3 in the new ‘Quick-six’ qualifying format on Saturday, the Team BMW ace followed this up with 4th, 5th and 2nd place finishes in Sunday’s races.
It wasn’t a straight forward day however, the first race only kicked off after lunch due to flooded gravel traps, water logged grass and unsafe circuit conditions stalling the start of the action.
Despite this delay to racing, Turkington’s Team BMW 330e M Sport impressed the 4-Time Champ, as winter upgrades translated into an improvement of pace in all conditions.
The final race of the day produced a glimpse of what’s to come from the package, with a storming and intentional drive by the BMW driver, from 5th to 2nd.
Sunday’s second and third races also showcased the increased power from hybrid deployment this year, allowing all drivers to significantly boost ahead in defence or attack.
Colin’s ‘solid without being spectacular’ results put him 4th in the BTCC Drivers Standings with 41 points.
Next up is Brands Hatch Indy less than two weeks away on the 11th and 12th May.
