Colin Turkington ready to go as Media Day Launches 2017 Season
- Donington Park to host BTCC Media Day for 5th consecutive year
- First official test of the season
- Turkington announced at Goodwood 75th Members Meeting
Excitement is building around the globe as drivers, teams and fans prepare for the start of the 2017 motorsport season. It is easily regarded as one of the busiest times in the motorsport calendar as the dawn of the new season approaches. Despite this, the unrivalled level of preparation for Colin Turkington and Team BMW remain the same.
Renowned for his conscientious and meticulous approach, Turkington is ready and waiting for the beginning of the 2017 season. Having recently tested the BMW 1 Series in Castelloli, Spain, Turkington returned buoyed from his time in the car. Completing one third of a season’s mileage within three days; the double champion quickly settled back into the team that have brought his two BTCC titles. Now, just days away from the launch of the 2017 BTCC season it’s all eyes on Donington Park for Media Day.[/vc_column_text][vc_text_separator title=”CATCH UP WITH THE TESTING “]Media Day will mark the first chance for fans to see and hear the class of 2017 in action before rounds 1, 2 and 3 take place in just over a fortnight at Brands Hatch. With free entrance available this Thursday, thousands of spectators will head to the East Midlands circuit keen to get a glimpse of the stars in action.
Hosting an official 4 hour pre-season test along with various media activities; Donington Park sets the scene for the gruelling 30 round season that lies ahead. Each driver, car and team of the 2017 season will be in attendance revealing their new liveries, race wear and branding.
One major draw to Media Day is the return of Team BMW, as the 1 Series of Colin Turkington takes to the track for the first time dressed in the iconic colours of the German Marque. After a 21-year absence, Team BMW are a significant addition to the Championship, and under the leadership of Dick Bennetts and West Surrey Racing, are expertly equipped to strive for success.Thursday will also showcase the personal livery of Colin’s Team BMW 125i M Sport including branding from partners Breezemount, Jump Into Ireland, Tarmac and Fane Valley. Confirming his portfolio of partners for this season, Turkington will also proudly reveal his new look 2017 helmet and suit.
“By the end of the test last week the BMW felt like my car again, and seeing my name on there will only affirm that feeling. Heading onto the track for the first time with the iconic BMW colours will be a special moment in my career and a real privilege.
I’ve been working ultra-hard to be ready for this season and I’m confident we will be challenging at the sharp end straight away. The test on Thursday provides an opportunity to refine the setup for Donington and will be a good indication of the developments we’ve made through the winter.

Colin has announced he will be competing at the 75th Members Meeting at Goodwood on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th March.
Heading south from Donington Park to Goodwood, Turkington will be driving a 1975 Triumph Dolomite Sprint in the Gerry Marshall Trophy and a 1958 Lister Jaguar Knobbly in the Scott Brown Trophy.
