THIRD ROW START FOR BALLAST LADEN TURKINGTON AS HE DELIVERS QUALITY QUALIFYING PERFORMANCE
Championship leader Colin Turkington will line up on the third row of the grid for race 1 tomorrow following a sensational qualifying session. With favourable track conditions for the Team BMW 1 series and driver, Turkington made sure to turn on the magic when it mattered. Despite being ballast laden in a slightly lively BMW, the former champ was determined to position himself well for the first race of the day.
TIME TO STRIKE
It wasn’t plain sailing for Turkington though, as the 75kgs of Championship success ballast worked it’s wicked way on the balance of the BMW throughout the morning practice sessions. A productive afternoon of engineering ensured improvements and by qualifying it was time to strike. The Team BMW driver has been working harder than ever lately to keep the momentum and deliver a successful first half of the season. Today’s performance confirms his intentions for race day and Croft should once again deliver an entertaining day of racing.

COLIN TURKINGTON
“I worked hard for that and I’m pretty sure we got the most out of today. The weight has been doing it’s job and it has been a huge effort on our behalf to get on that third row.
I think the car will come alive tomorrow when we get a bit lighter and if we do our homework right, we’ll make another step forward with balance. That’s our job tonight.
I set out to get myself in a strong position for race 1 and take it from there. It’s satisfying to have done that for sure, but obviously I would like to be further up the order. I’ll be doing my best to make that happen.”
