BTCC PREVIEW: CROFT

BTCC PREVIEW: CROFT

TURKINGTON CONFIDENT HIS BMW WILL BE BACK “SINGING” AS THE SERIES HEADS NORTH TO CROFT

The first half of the BTCC season rounds up at Croft this weekend as rounds 13, 14 and 15 mark the mid way point in the vigorous 2017 season.  There have been eight different winners so far and the Championship contenders will be pushing hard to enter the summer break in a title challenging position.

Eager to convert Croft in a bountiful points haul is Team BMW driver Colin Turkington.  With his eyes firmly fixed on the Yorkshire prize, Colin is confident that the misfortune of Oulton Park is well behind him and is aiming to add to his highly successful “King Of Croft” track record.

SUCCESSFUL RECORD

Colin currently holds the qualifying and race lap records around the fast but technical circuit, and has also notched up the most victories, podiums and fastest laps in the past 20 years!  Described as a ‘specialist‘ of the circuit, Turkington has continously proven his flair, and will be the one to watch this weekend.

The #4 BMW 1 series has been through intensive investigations since Oulton Park, and Colin is satisfied that the testing and development from Team BMW has cured the troublesome misfire.  The duo will arrive at Croft eager to extract its full potential.

Recap on rounds 10, 11 and 12 at Oulton Park here.

COLIN TURKINGTON

Enthusiastic about the capabilities of the BMW, Colin insists there is untapped potential in both him and the car, identifying previous “bad luck” that has held him back.  Currently sitting 4th in the Championship with 2 race wins, his ability to be a Championship contender highlights why he is regarded as one of the best in the business.

“In theory we’ve had a couple of weeks breathing space from Oulton Park, but in reality it’s been a very important period of time for the team and my car.

I have spoken before of this shared winning mentality in Team BMW, and time and time again it proves so crucial.

The dedication applied by the team between the two events has been extraordinary.  We’ve been able to test the car and put to bed the gremlins of Oulton Park.  It was tough knowing the potential of the 1 series was there, but we were unable to do anything worth shouting about with it.  I’m looking forward to Croft and being able to push the car to the limits, hopefully securing three strong finishes.

I’m confident my BMW will be back singing and am determined to deliver my bit!

There have been a few events this season where I’ve had so much potential within the car, but been held back by bad luck.  I’m hopeful Croft will put an end to that and get us back on target for the team and for the fans!

I’ve had great success here in the past, but the series gets tougher and closer each year.  We’ve seen before that Croft is a strong track for the BMW so I’m confident we can achieve our goals!”
