BRANDS HATCH GP QUALIFYING REPORT
TECHNICAL WOES SPOIL TURKINGTON’S PLAN AS HE VOWS IT’S FAR FROM OVER
The sun was shining at Brands Hatch for the final BTCC weekend as Team BMW and Colin Turkington commenced their last big push for the 2017 title . An early misfire on Saturday’s practice sessions threatened to test Turkington and the team as they grafted hard to find the optimum balance for qualifying.
Improving the chassis throughout the two sessions Turkington was confident the car wasn’t too far away from the ideal. Prior to qualifying everything known to them at the time was rectified, yet on his second lap out Colin had to pit with a similar problem. It took half the session to get the car back out on track leaving Turkington with only a limited number of laps to get the job done.
DOING ALL HE CAN
There was only enough time to get out on track and give it everything he had. Each lap saw him move up the order from the bottom but it was soon clear that the clock was against him. Eventually running out of time to improve any further Colin took the flag in P17. With his Championship rival in P3, it was far from the start to the weekend he had been hoping for but Turkington aims to remain in full attack mode and will be seeking to make considerable progress in race 1.

“That was not part of the plan for sure but this is far from over. Of course I am incredibly frustrated and it was a painful process in the pit lane, but if we know anything about this Championship it’s that anything can happen tomorrow.
All I needed was more time on track and a new set of boots.
The best in the business are on the case to ensure that this is the last we see of the problem and we will not take our eyes off the prize until the chequered flag of the final race.
The car was feeling good today and we made considerable progress with the balance during our practice sessions which fills me with positivity on tomorrow possibilities.”
